Joe Anthony “Tony” Hernandez

Joe Anthony "Tony" Hernandez, 79, of Kansas City, KS passed away peacefully in his home on October 28, 2019.  Born August 28,1940 in Kansas City, MO to Francisco & Guadalupe (Barbosa) Hernandez.  He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe grade school and Redemptorist High School.  Joe retired from Gill Studios where he worked for 39 years.  Along with his wife, Mary, he later owned Case de Hernandez restaurant.  Joe is survived by his 7 children, Carmela Rank, Joe A. Hernandez, Jr., Frank M. Hernandez, Edward T. Hernandez (Aida Martinez), Angela M. Hernandez, Philip D. Hernandez, Mauricea “Reese” Baska (Alex Eskina); grandchildren, Toni Moore, Joshua Rank, David Rank, Ashlee Rios, Sarah Hernandez, Meghan Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez, Lauren Stahl, Gabriella Hernandez, Izabella Baska, Joe Luis Baska, II, Liliana Hernandez, Alexis Eskina, Zachary Eskina, Philip Hernandez, Jr., Mauricio Eskina; great-grandchildren, Salvador Barr, Elijah Hernandez, Joseph Garcia, Sophia Rank, Joselyn Wood, Daniel Mendez Jr., Julia Garcia, Marlowe Moore, Fiona Rank, Sariah Mendez, Olivia Rank and Joe Anthony Hernandez, IV; sister, R. Ruth Quirarte; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Louise (Guereca); siblings, Mary Weaver, Elias Martinez, Jesse Martinez, Francis Padilla, Joachim "Jack" Hernandez; and son-in-law Kevin Rank.                                                                                                                                                                                 The rosary will be prayed at 5pm Friday, November 1st at Larkin & Garcia Funeral Care, 1844 Minnesota Avenue Kansas City, KS followed by visitation until 8 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10am at the Cathedral of St. Peter Church 409 N. 15th Street Kansas City, KS.  Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, KCK. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions for funeral expenses.  Condolences may be expressed to the family below.
