Robert Glenn Rayn, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on January 29th, 2024, at CenterPoint Hospital in Independence, Missouri.
Robert was born on November 15th, 1925, to his parents, Walter and Edith Rayn. In the mid 1940s, Robert was drafted to serve for the U.S. Merchant Marines. After his honorable discharge he went back to finish high school. Robert often told memorable stories of his time on the U.S. Navy warships with the Merchant Marines. His stories will be missed by all his loved ones.
Robert enjoyed watching Chiefs football games, going to classic car shows, bicycling, reading good books and working on puzzles. He also enjoyed playing card games with friends and listening to ragtime and jazz music. Mr. Rayn was a proud volunteer for the Kaufman Volunteer Fire Department. One of his favorite activities in his later years was gazing at the Lake of the Ozarks from his porch as he watched boats and birds go by.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, LouAnn Rayn and his brother, Walter Rayn Jr. Robert is survived by his daughter, Edith (Patrick) Christine; grand-daughter Kara (David) Frame and great-grand-son Thomas Frame.
Robert Rayn will be greatly missed by all of his family.
