Christopher Sean Kinghorn

December 2, 1957 — August 28, 2024

Christopher Sean Kinghorn was born on December 2nd, 1957, to Ray Kinghorn and Ruby Glick in California. After a brave battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully at home on August 28th, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Chris spent much of his childhood in California. In 1976, he graduated from James Monroe High School and made the courageous decision to serve our country and join the United States Air Force. He spent six years in the Air Force and served overseas for some time before receiving his honorable discharge in 1982. Chris was awarded an Air Force Commendation Medal for his service.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Chris went to DeVry University and earned an associate’s degree in technology. Later, he went back to school and earned a degree in Addiction Studies. Chris became well-known for the role he played in this community as a Substance-Use Counselor. He dedicated 20 years of his life to his career as a Substance-Use Counselor and changed the lives of many along the way through his patient mannerisms, long talks and his ability to guide people out of dark times in their lives. Chris made an impact not only on the clients he would serve, but also on his coworkers who admired his strong dedication to his field.

During his free time, Chris enjoyed taking in the beauty of nature by going fishing and going on hikes in the mountains. He loved the mountains so much that he named two of his previous pets after his favorite mountains, Shasta and Whitney. He also enjoyed playing golf and tuning into the LA Dodgers and Kansas City Chiefs games. Chris was also known for his interesting recipes in the kitchen. During the Christmas celebrations, everyone looked forward to Chris’ popular hot cheese dip. Whether through his unwavering patience or his ways with cheese, Chris will always be remembered for his ability to make anyone smile. He will be missed deeply by his family, friends, co-workers and many others whose lives he touched.

Chris was preceded in death by his daughter, Adrienne Claire (1992); parents, Ray Delmont Kinghorn & Ruby Marie Glick.

He is survived by his daughter Erin Rebeccah King and her husband Corba King; sisters; nieces; nephews and many other family members.
