J. Andre Coronado

January 16, 1978 — July 20, 2021

Jose Andre' Coronado, 43, passed away peacefully at his home, on Tuesday, July 20th, 2021. Andre', who was lovingly called Dre, was born January 16th, 1978, in Kansas City, Missouri to J. Sam Coronado and Rachel (Reyes) Coronado. Andre' grew up attending Guardian Angels Catholic School, went on to Bishop Miege High School, graduating in 1996, where he played soccer and continued his love for the sport. Andre' was an avid fan of soccer, baseball, football and even tennis, which he played during his childhood years. Dre loved his Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Andre' worked as a subcontractor painter, and most recently as a field technician with Spectrum Cable. Andre' was the oldest of five siblings, and took his role as the eldest to heart. Andre' was coined the 'Protector' of the Coronado 5 and also established his childhood home, as Coronado Corner, since his childhood friends and family routinely stopped by for visits, a cold beverage, to use the phone, or for one of Dre's famous hugs and kisses. Andre met the love of his life, Janell Stevens, and had three beautiful children that became his driving force in life. His children, Gianna, Andre Gianni, and Lilliana(his Wittle), were his world; and he had special bonds with all 3 that were apparent by his daddy/daughter time or daddy/son time. Andre' relished the time with his kids, and loved to catch all the new movie releases, go swimming, shopping and treating them to an occasional taco Tuesday at the family favorite, Bonito Michoacan. Andre' was larger than life, always welcoming and inviting as was evident by the numerous social events he hosted throughout the years. Andre' never met a stranger, and welcomed all with open arms. His pride for his culture and heritage was important to him, and he could be found on any dance floor, shouting a 'grito' just like his dad Sam. Andre' was also a lover of all animals and would help rescue them when in need, most times caring for them until he could find them a forever home. Andre' loved traveling with Janell, the kids and extended family; he looked forward to family Sunday dinners; and was just as excited if not more for his family's annual season pass to Worlds of Fun. Andre's smile, jokes, selfies, laugh, hugs and kisses will all be missed dearly. Andre' is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Andre' is survived by his parents, Sam and Rachel Coronado, his wife Janell Stevens of 21 years, and his children, Gianna, Andre Gianni, and Lilliana, all of the home. Andre' also leaves behind four siblings; Gina Coronado, of Kansas City, Adan 'Chico" Coronado (Giovanna Orozco), of Kansas City, Anthony Coronado (Glenda Hernandez Coronado) of Lenexa, Kansas, and Alexander Coronado, of Kansas City, and his beloved nephews and nieces, Tony, Aleah, Jake, Cruz, Lila, Avril, Luca, Milo and baby Milan. He also leaves countless cousins, aunts and uncles, with whom he had special relationships with. A visitation is set for Friday, July 30th, 2021, from 5:30pm to 8pm, at Guardian Angels Church, 1310 Westport Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64111, with a Rosary being said at 7pm. Funeral mass will be Saturday, July 31st, 2021 at Noon, also at Guardian Angels Church. Reception to follow.
