OBITUARY
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jarred Christopher “JC” Picard on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the age of 50 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
After many valiant battles, he fought his last one and is now at peace. We know that he is surrounded by family and friends who are all wrapped in the arms of God.
JC was born on Monday, August 12, 1974, in Culbertson Montana the son of Ernest James and Janice Ann (Lemke) Picard.
He will be loved and missed by his faithful wife Wendy Picard; two sons Tyler Picard and Dylan Picard; stepson Cruz and his three children, Aariah, Abel and Amelia VonWald; stepdaughter Greta Thrasher; parents Ernie and Janice; sister Sharice (Ryan); nephew Aaron Lloyd; and niece Taylor Lloyd along; with several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
JC graduated from Flagstaff, Arizona high school in 1992. He became a father in 1997 to Tyler and in 2000 to Dylan. He never missed an opportunity to see his sons play in the sports they were involved with. He started his career with BNSF in 1997 as part of the signal construction gang. He went onto become a maintainer in Flagstaff, moved to California for a year and then onto Wyoming as a signal construction supervisor briefly and his last position on the railroad was as a Manager of Signal Training at BNSF Railway in the Kansas City area.
JC found the love of his life Wendy and they married in 2012 in Wyoming. In August of 2021 life was forever changed for them when he was involved in a motorcycle accident that had left him paralyzed. After several months of surgeries and rehabilitations JC and Wendy had to make the hard decision to leave Wyoming after 19 years and move to Kansas City area for JC’s employment. Wendy has been the angel by his side throughout all the challenges this disability brought to them.
Throughout the 50 years of his life JC enjoyed the outdoors, kayaking, fishing, hunting, college game days, NFL and the love of Kansas City Royals. His greatest love outside of his family and his bulldogs was his passion for his Indian motorcycles.
Over the last seven years JC became an avid Facebook mentor to many regarding his demons, his faith and his strength of overcoming his addiction. His sense of humor, his wittiness, his way to ALWAYS be right and most of all his love for Wendy will truly be missed.
His last ride was the one he took to heaven awaiting the arrival of his angel Wendy, family and his bulldogs to join him.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 P.M. at The Gathering on Thursday, December 19, 2024 with a reception to follow at The Blend. Inurnment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Justin Picard, Tyler Picard, Dylan Picard, Cruz VonWald, Ryan Short, and Brandon Smith.
