Leland Edmund Young Ii

December 23, 1983 — August 24, 2018

Born December 23, 1983, Leland Edmund Young II was the perfect Christmas gift to his family. He began his journey through life diagnosed with Multicystic Dsyplastic Kidney (MCDK). Leland was the youngest child of three born to Sharon Taylor and the only child for Leland Young. At a very young age, Leland endured many restless nights at Children's Mercy Hospital. Leland fought through multiple dialysis treatments and two kidney transplants which his body later rejected. Through it all, he celebrated life with a smile and a big heart. His illness never slowed him down long. He was known to do a quick drive by nose rub. He even snuck a quick nose rub on KMBC 9 broadcaster Larry Moore during a game of duck hunt while being interviewed about his trip to Disney World. As Leland grew into a young man, he found a love for graphic design, world of warcraft, fornite, and playing basketball with his childhood friends and nephews. On August 23, 2018, at the age of 34, Leland passed unexpectedly. Leland's love for his family left all he encountered heartbroken and he will be deeply missed. Leland will remain in our hearts until we meet again. The family suggests memorial contributions to Leland Edmund Young II in help for the funeral and may be sent in care of Larkin & Garcia Funeral Care. Visitation will be held at Leland's home church Ebenezer Christian Fellowship Church, 6029 Sewell Ave. KCK 66104, Saturday September 15, 2018 from 10am -12pm with Service at 12, for more details please contact funeral home at 913-371-7000.
