Marcella (Marcy) Maria Clay, 70 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Sunday evening, August 1, 2021. A memorial service will be Friday, August 13that 5 p.m., doors will open at 4:30 at Larkin & Garcia 1844 Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, KS. Mass will be Saturday, August 14th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1086 North 94th St, KCK. Marcy graduated from Independence Kansas High School in 1969. She attended Independence Community College and St. Mary's College in Leavenworth Kansas. She graduated with a BS in Elementary Education in 1973, and later earned her Master's Degree. Marcy spent most of her career in education in KCMO and 18yrs in KCK District. She began her career as a teacher, a principal, executive director and finally an Assistant Superintendent of KCKPS. Even when Marcy wasn't working for a school district, she was supporting students, families, and educators. Marcy's favorite pastimes included being a "Lita" to her granddaughter Leya and a "Nina" to her sister's three sons Jeffrey, Nicholas, and Renado. Music was always a passion of Marcy's because of the Leons family band, that Marcy was the lead singer of. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Delfina Leon and brother Michael Sr. She is survived by her husband Hughie Clay of KCK, her son Carlos Clay and granddaughter Cataleya of N. KCMO, brother Joseph Martin Leon of South Carolina, sister Mary Jo Leon of KCK, brother Joseph Peter Leon of N. KCMO, and blessed with several nieces and nephews.
