Sharon Marie Gaydess, 77, of Kansas City, KS, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 5th, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Sharon was bon on December 7th, 1947, to the late Edward A. and Rose Marie (Sambol) Gaydess.
Sharon was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, KS. She attended parochial schools throughout her childhood and graduated from Bishop Ward High School. After high school, she earned a degree in Education from the University of Kansas; she continued her studies and completed a master’s degree at UMKC. Sharon enjoyed a career with the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District as a second-grade teacher and then as a school librarian. She took pride in curating the library’s collection of audiovisual materials and children’s literature. She spoke often of the camaraderie she had with her fellow teachers. Sharon had refined tastes and appreciated quality and elegance. She enjoyed manicures, fine dining, and luxury labels. She was proud of her Croatian-Lithuanian heritage and a fan of the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, and the KU Jayhawks. Sharon was deeply Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s-St. Anthony’s Church. She was a devoted daughter and the primary caregiver of her elderly parents.
Aunt Sharon doted on her two nieces; she was a supportive and loving presence in their lives and enjoyed spending time with them. Loving memories will always be in there of the day trips to the movies and shopping, family celebrations, and having talent for choosing gifts that delighted. She is the undisputed champion of gift presentations, her presents were always precisely wrapped in festive paper and adorned with coordinating ribbons and bows. Sharon is survived by her brother, Edward (Lori) Gaydess; nieces, Betsy (Ben) Gaydess Hodgins and Andrea (Sean) Mulvenon; great-nieces and nephews.
