Sonia Belinda Johnson

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Sonia Belinda Johnson, 61, on November 5, 2024. Sonia was a long time resident of Hooker, OK. 

Born on June 17, 1963 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Jose Guadalupe & Carmen (Ramirez) Cantu, one of seven children. 

Sonia met the love of her life and beloved husband, F. Dean Johnson Jr., of 33 years. Sonia was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family. She would do anything for her family, they always came first and foremost. She enjoyed camping, cooking, baking, entertaining family and friends for all occasions, and of course, the Kansas City Chiefs. 

Sonia worked for BMA, a hostess at El Taquito Restaurant, and later as a medical financial aid consultant for The Midland Group followed by Brookdale Liberal Springs. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Guadalupe Cantu, father and mother-in-law, F. Dean and Mary Johnson Sr., brothers, Gilbert R. Cantu and Danny Cantu, sisters-in-law, Diane and Christine Johnson, and step brother-in-law, Scott Hecox. 

Sonia is survived by her husband, F. Dean Johnson Jr., three children, Mia Leslie Cantu Byrd of Hooker, OK, James Nicholas (Amy) Johnson of Blue Springs, MO, and F. Dean (Melissa) Johnson III of Kansas City, MO. Seven grandchildren, Michael Xavier Byrd, Sofia Izabel Byrd, Elijah William Johnson, Johnny Michael Johnson, Cristian Matthias Johnson, Luke Michael Johnson and Isabelle Nichole Johnson, mother, Carmen (Ramirez) Cantu, step mother-in-law, Irene Johnson, siblings, Jose G Cantu, Jr., Linda (Mike) Hitze, Angelina Vallette and Martin (Jenny) Cantu, brother-in-law William Michael Johnson, step brother-in-law, Steve (Vicki) Hecox, and step sister-in-law, Colleen (Randy) Pelz, and many nieces and nephews. 

Private funeral services are under the direction of Larkin & Garcia Funeral Care, Kansas City, Kansas.
