Wanda Howe Jackson

Wanda Howe-Jackson passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, July 24th, 2023.Wanda was born on November 12th, 1931, in Kansas City Kansas to Curtis R. and Suzie M. Guthrie. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1949.Wanda worked for Deluxe check printers, as well as at Proctor and Gamble, early on in her life. She worked at KUMC Hospital from 1978 until her retirement in 2012, at the front desk in Bell Hospital where she was known for her smile and friendliness as she helped customers and patients with their needs. She had many friends throughout the Hospital, and was loved and admired by many. Wanda was a firm believer in the Christian faith, and was brought up from birth to her death in an unshakeable belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, with whom she now resides. Wanda loved going to church, dining out, and spending time with friends and family. She was also an avid shopper, and many times had to be coerced to leave the store or mall.


Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband, as well as a brother, two sons, 3 stepsons, and a stepdaughter.


Wanda is survived by a son – James E. Howe of Shawnee, Kansas, son, Robert Howe, of Olathe Kansas,  a daughter, Cheryl Bowers, also of Olathe Kansas, as well as a Stepdaughter, Deana Carroll, of Kansas, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.


She is loved and missed by her family and friends, but her spirit lives on in the lives of the multiple generations she helped to create.


A Celebration of Life Memorial will take place on her birthday weekend, November 11th, 2023.
